MCIT looked to Secure Payments in an effort to align itself with the right partners who could provide valuable compliance products and services to its clients. MCIT recognized a blind spot, specifically in helping clients with their PCI compliance. The company already covered the network side of PCI, but through its due diligence, it realized the merchant side was a big risk that left the company and its clients exposed to risk. Finding a solution to include this in their service became a priority. MCIT also quickly realized that this required finding an external partner with a deep level of knowledge and expertise, with the platform to mitigate problems and protect clients.

Currently, MCIT conducts security risk assessments for all new clients, including compliance. Part of this process is to ensure merchant services are segregated from the network, password management, security awareness training and more.

Knowing that compliance issues, such as PCI DSS 4.0, were on the horizon, the company went full steam to find a solution. Chris wanted to stay ahead of the curve and ensure that he was looking out for MCIT’s clients as best he could.

For the MSP community, Chris feels it is very important to share this information. He feels most MSPs don’t recognize that PCI compliance is not covered by what they are doing for compliance now. The entire industry needs to be educated that the compliance most MSPs are doing on the network side doesn’t cross over to the merchant side. This is a big misconception that, at the end of the day, could cost the client significantly.
